    Summer Internship Job Description

     

    DEPARTMENT:     Hardware Engineering                   

     

    Election Systems and Software (ES&S) is located in Omaha, Nebraska, and is the market leader in the election industry.  Over 60% of voters in the United States touch ES&S products and services.

    Election Systems and Software will provide products and services of exceptional quality and value to maintain voter confidence and enhance the voting experience.

     

    INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

    The ES&S Summer Interns will work 30-40-hour weeks, Monday – Friday during normal business hours. While contributing to department initiatives, interns will also engage in educational experiences that prepare them for the work world after completing their studies. Bi-weekly sessions include Getting Your First Job, Preparing for Interviews, Understanding Benefits, How to Assess Workplace Culture, and The Importance of Networking.

     

    EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

    Undergraduate or graduate students in    Engineering (EE or ME) fields will be considered for this internship.

     

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to communicate with diverse populations
    • Professional demeanor
    • Experience using SolidWork or other CAD packages                                 
    • Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently
    • Ability to meet deadlines

     

    EXPERIENCE OR SPECIAL SKILLS DESIRED:

    • Perform basic product design modifications
    • Develop and maintain basic detail and assembly drawings for products and equipment
    • Perform engineering change processes as necessary to support existing products
    • Ability to perform mechanical design calculations
    • Ability to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical assembly issues
    • Create documentation commensurate with new and sustaining products

     

    JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Analyze image quality
    • Investigate electronic security options
    • Support EMC testing

     

    SCHEDULE: Minimum commitment:      2 months                                         

     

    COMPENSATION:

    All interns will be paid 15.00 per hour.

     

    PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATION:

    ES&S views the Internship Program as a professional learning opportunity.  Interns will be held to the same professional standards as all full-time associates.  Therefore, Interns will be involved in team and project meetings, take on tasks that have an impact on department goals, and both contribute to our goals and learn new skills.
